Skills Required
- Proficiency with payroll software (e.g., ADP, Ceridian, and Wagepoint)
- Strong Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas)
- Understanding of payroll systems, reporting, and reconciliations
- Familiarity with direct deposit, garnishments, tax filings, and benefits integration
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Problem-solving mindset and ability to work independently
Key Responsibilities Knowledge
- Processing bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll accurately and on time
- Managing payroll deductions, bonuses, commissions, and adjustments
- Ensuring compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations
- Maintaining accurate records of employee payroll data
- Coordinating with HR and Finance for onboarding, terminations, and benefits
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred)
- Certification such as Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) is a plus
Experience
- 2–4 years of payroll processing experience (depending on the company level)
- Experience with inter-provincial payroll (is a plus)
- Familiarity with tax laws, labor laws, and compliance standards
