Skills Required
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Taxprep and ProFile)
- Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis)
- Knowledge of ERP systems and financial reporting tools (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite)
- Understanding of ASPE and tax accounting methods
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently
- Discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information
Key Responsibilities Knowledge
- Prepare and file corporate and personal tax returns
- Research tax laws and provide guidance on tax strategies and planning
- Assist with tax audits and correspondence with tax authorities
- Ensure compliance with tax deadlines and regulatory requirements
- Analyze financial records and prepare workpapers for tax filings
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required)
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus
- Master’s degree in Taxation or a related field is a plus
Experience
- 2–5 years of experience in tax preparation, planning, or compliance (depending on the level of the role)
- Experience with individual, corporate, partnership, and/or cross-border taxation
- Familiarity with CRA regulations and applicable tax legislations
